Anika Noni Rose is an American actor and singer. She's best known for portraying Tiana Disney's her first African American character in The Princess and the Frog. She was named a Disney Legend in 2011. Rose played Lorrell Robinson, the Academy Award winning film Dreamgirls. Anika Noni (born on September 6th in 1972) is a songwriter and American actor. She is best known for the role for Tiana as Tiana in The Princess and the Frog, the very first African American Disney Princess. Disney Legend was bestowed upon her in 2011. Her most well-known roles include performances in the film Lorrell in Dreamgirls, which was an Academy Award winning film (2006) as well as LaVerne in Starz's Power. Her performances in the theatre are also well-known, including her performances in the role of Emmie Thbodeaux in Caroline or Change, a Broadway production of the musical Caroline or Change (2004) which won her the Tony Award Best Featured actress in an Musical. Her nomination was for her nomination for Tony Award Best Featured actor in a play for the Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun.
